Climax Receives Award for Hardrock Reclamation and Environmental Stewardship

The Climax mine was honored to receive the 2020 Award for Excellence in Hardrock Reclamation from the Colorado Mining Association and the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety.

Climax was recognized on behalf of the Lake Irwin Wetland Mitigation project for overcoming the unique challenges in this area. In this project, the design takes advantage of the water inflows to the area to sustain wetland and aquatic habitats with connectivity to the adjacent, native landscape. Wetland plants, willow cuttings, containerized nursery stock and soil are salvaged from McNulty Gulch.

The Henderson mine and mill also received the 2020 Award for Best of the Best in Environmental Stewardship.

The awards were presented during the MINEXCHANGE conference in early March.

Climax is committed to sustainable and environmentally sound practices, and we are honored to be recognized for our efforts.
