Climax During COVID-19

Colorado, the nation and the world are facing unprecedented challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic has threatened our health, economy, and way of life. As recovery efforts begin and we work to reopen our economy, it’s a reminder that we are all in this together, and we will get through this together. To that end, Climax Molybdenum is committed to supporting our employees and our neighbors during this uncertain time.

As the world continues to focus on stopping the spread of coronavirus, we wanted to provide you with information on the steps we are taking to protect and support what’s most important – the health, safety and well-being of our workforce, their families and our communities.

First, we understand how intrinsically linked we are as a company and community and see this as a point of pride. This link underpins our efforts as we work through the significant challenges of this situation. Molybdenum is essential to the strength of the global supply chain for such critical needs as alloy production for medical equipment, solar panel and wind turbine production, food service and transportation equipment as well as a key ingredient in refining petroleum fuels to allow them to burn cleaner. The materials we produce, and therefore our employees, are considered critical, and we are listed as an essential business at the state and federal level.

As always, the health and safety of our employees and communities remains our number one priority. For Climax employees who remain at the workplace due to job requirements, we continue to implement protocols to mitigate the spread of coronavirus.as recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and our company medical director. These protocols include health screenings and temperature checks, physical distancing measures and rigorous sanitation procedures. We also are ensuring employees have all necessary personal protective equipment.

In addition, the company immediately adjusted pay and leave policies to help families who may be impacted by the virus.

Finally, we are working to support our neighbors. The Henderson Mill partners with Mile High United Way through an employee giving campaign, where the company matches employee donations. A portion of these dollars has been directed to Mile High United Way’s COVID-19 response efforts, and the rest are used to support local non-profits and community foundations who work to address critical issues like education, food-insecurity, and domestic violence prevention. Climax has partnered with distilleries to help mass produce hand sanitizer to help shore up low supplies and help workers and families stay safe. We also have been able to donate large amounts of personal protective equipment (PPE) to local businesses and community centers.

Our commitment to our employees, stakeholders and communities is unwavering. We will continue to work together in the fight to overcome this crisis and build a stronger path forward.
